Congratulations to SKU member, Jenna Dailly who became the Scottish Schools Golden Gloves Champion on Sunday 23rd February, 2025. Jenna fought exceptionally well at the event at Ravenscraig Sports Facility and is pictured with Sensei Niamh and Sensei Kevin who attended the event to support. Well done Jenna!
Despite being injured for the most of the year, we are delighted to announce that Sensei Niamh has won the European Tour in Romania. This is the second time she has won in the last 3 years, showing amazing consistency. Time to take some time off now & recover! Well done again Sensei!

A fantastic weekend of karate at this event. Big thanks to the committee for a well organised event. Congratulations to all our athletes who took part. Great to see big improvements in our younger squad members who are the future of SKU. SKU won 4 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze medals. Huge well done to Sarah Brand who also won the Best of the Best in the Senior Open Weight Womens Female Kumite Category!
Huge congratulations to our current WUKF Age 11 Girls World Champion, Jenna Dailly who has been selected to box for Scotland later this month in Nottingham at the 3 Nations Challenge. Jenna is as committed to her boxing as she is karate as we wish her the very best of luck on 14th-16th of June!

Congratulations to Lucy Stoves who won gold in the girls 15-17 Ippon Section in Oslo. This carried on from her success recently in Newcastle & Ireland. The Norway Open was sadly the last time we will see Lucy, Niamh & Sarah be able to compete in the 18-20 Team section together. What a journey it has been with unforgettable memories for you! You should all be very proud.

Huge congratulations to Niamh, Sarah & Lucy who are the current World Team Champions, European Champions & now British Team Champions!! Fantastic achievment showing great determination. The girls also took a clean sweep in the 18-20 Sanbon Category with Niamh first, Sarah second & Lucy third! Doesn't get better than that.
Congratulations also to Alicia Dailly who became age 13 Sanbon British Champion and Jenna Dailly who won silver in the age 11-12 years section. Well done girls .

A smaller squad travelled to Dublin the following weekend to compete at the 4 Nations Cup. Congratulations to Lucy Stoves & Eve McNaughton winning gold & becoming 4 Nations Champions. Well done to Sensei Niamh Conway who led the girls team to silver & Sarah Brand for a fantastic silver in the Ippon section. Also well done to Grace who fought well over the weekend, your day will come.

SKU had a hugely successful World Championships and are very proud to have won 7 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. Massive congratulations to your medalists. The level competition was outstanding with entries from 31 countries across the globe. For those that didn't medal, keep training hard and your time will come!

We had a fantastic session in Dundee recently. Great effort & determination from everyone. Team selection for the World Championships in July has started! Next SKU Squad Training session will be on Saturday 18th March, 1000-1200 hours in Kelvin Hall, 1445 Argyle Street, Glasgow, G3 8AW. £3 per athlete.
WUKF GB OPEN
SKU travelled to Crawley, London to compete in the inaugural WUKF GB Open Championships on Saturday 11th February. There was high quality level athletes at this event and we are delighted to have the following WUKF GB Champions; David Carter, Ashley Carter, Kenzie Stewart & Niamh Conway.
There were also medals in team fighting for Andrew Liddell & Sarah Brand.
Total medal haul; 6 Gold, 5 Silver & 4 Bronze!

Great fighting from everyone but a special mention to Owen Baird who was in a group of over 50 competitors, won his first 2 fights and then was narrowly beaten in the 3rd. Keep training hard and your day will come.
